La hauteur des colonnes de levage doit donc \u00eatre suffisamment basse. Les fosses lat\u00e9rales sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement prot\u00e9g\u00e9es par une grille, ce qui limite d'autant plus la hauteur maximale exploitable. Cependant, les colonnes de levages doivent quand m\u00eame offrir une hauteur de levage maximale du v\u00e9hicule, ce qui n'est possible qu'avec des colonnes de levage t\u00e9lescopiques.
